All designed objects are propaganda for a certain way of life.
Sometimes we need to stop analysing the past, stop planning the future, stop figuring out precisely how we feel, stop deciding exactly what we want, and just see what happens.
We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person.

BBC News - Parents who let children drink 'fuel binge drinking'

Parents who allow their children alcohol at home may be increasing the chances of future drinking problems, says England’s chief medical officer.

Sir Liam Donaldson accused some parents of a “laissez-faire” approach and said letting children taste alcohol to ready them for adulthood was “misguided”.

“It is a major public health problem. Alcohol has a ruinous effect on the foundations of adult life. We see the tyranny of alcohol in our towns and city centres and too often childhood is robbed of its clear-eyed innocence and replaced with a befuddled futility that comes with the availability of dirt-cheap alcohol,” [

Bargeddie, a place in Scotland

One of the best known Bargeddie ‘characters’ of recent times was William Conn (ca. 1880-1957), known locally as ‘Auld Wull’. A retired coal-miner with a large family, he was a man of remarkable talents and self-taught skills which he put to good use during the many years he resided in Abercrombie Crescent. Using these facilities, he regularly made and repaired scythes, barrows, mowers and an assortment of other garden tools for neighbours and also repaired watches and [

they never told me there'd be days like these

Couple more great days in a row after giving an armful of lots of very big red corpuscles to the greater good and walking Mam Tor to Loose Hill. Firstly through Sherwood Forest in brilliant sunshine for the first time since I was a teenager, what is it about forests? Today spent tour-guiding VIPs around Redmires to exhaust a very appreciative Porridge. Blissful.

Early start tomorrow to ‘turn-up and ride’ with one of the local clubs on their Sunday club-run for my first time. Feel funny about this which is daft. Have already done drink, sandwiches and snacks (20.30). [

You know it’s funny what a young man recollects? ‘Cause I don’t remember bein’ born. I don’t recall what I got for my first Christmas and I don’t know when I went on my first outdoor picnic. But I do remember the first time I heard the sweetest voice in the wide world.

“You’ll get over it, I did” was what the voice said to me.
