The hat is the same colour as worn by my climbing club leader, Bill Dean, back in 1972-76 … so fashionistas beware. These Scottish balaclavas used to be completely de-rigeur in the hills but trends mean they are forgotten by most and Joe Brown’s said they are getting harder to find. I now have brown, red and this gold. When it gets REALLY cold you want stuff you know ‘just works’.
